A few weeks ago, Nathan was doing a 5K. It was a low-key race in our little town. Nathan did a great job for having only run a few times before race day (this summer has been full of other physical activity...just not running). They were also doing a 1 mile race, so I figured I would walk that with our kids in the double stroller while Nathan was running. Blake had other plans though! He ran nearly the whole thing! I ended up jogging on and off with my good friend JeAnna. Blake found a few buddies that live on our street, along with JeAnna's little girl, to run with...the 4 of them were even holding hands while running for a while :) Blake ran the 1 mile in about 15:30. Pretty good for a 4 year old!
After the race they had a drawing for prizes. Blake's name got chosen and he picked out an orange backpack that he LOVES (he is wearing it in the picture). Orange happens to be his favorite color :) He had to carry the backpack around for several days after and now it is his preschool backpack.
Nathan also got lucky and won 2 tickets to go miniature golfing. We have been wanting to take the kids miniature golfing but didn't know of a place locally to do so. Not only do we now know of a place but we have some free passes to try it out (P.S. for all you locals - it is Willows Golf Park in Providence).

Every time we drive down that road (which is every Tuesday and Thursday) Addie talks about the race.
It was fun.
