Nathan has been working on our chicken coop. A week or 2 ago our 5 chickens moved in. They seem to really like it - at first I don't think they knew what to do with all the space! The coop is still in our garage but we will be moving it out this week. The pictures below were taken as Nathan was putting the door on so that the chickens could move in. In the first picture you can see the nest boxes. There is a door on the top of that now. Those unpainted boards you see are to block the chickens from using them at the moment. The chickens will not be ready to lay eggs until the Fall (maybe October) and we don't want them to get used to sleeping in the nest boxes so we will leave them off-limits for a few more months.
Nathan is just working on the run at the moment. There will be a door in the wall shown in the photo below that will lead to the run. The area below the coop is open so that the chickens can hang out. We will probably put additional food and water containers down there so that they don't have to go inside to get something to eat.
Nathan has done a really good job on the coop - I will post pictures of the final product when we put it outside.
